Homespun Dolls Welcome
Hello Welcome to HomespunDolls blog page. I am a self taught doll artist who creates fantasy art dolls. All of my little ones live and work in a little piece of my backyard called Elftown. During their creation they all have their own personal story that is told just for them. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do making them.

My version of a cage doll
The original cage dolls were made to use as alters of sorts. Usually depicting the image of Mary the mother of Jesus. People who lived too far from a church would use the doll at their alter. Placing sacred items into the cage.
My version of a cage doll is different. Mine is a Goblin and I see putting things found in nature into the cage. For the picture I have a flower and moss. She is 15 inches high and detachable from the cage. Here is Grunehilda Goblin my version of a cage doll.

Being over-run with birds and mice!
Alot of my doll ideas come from books I read, or from dreams. The other night I dreamt of finding a mouse hiding behind the candy bowl, her cheeks stuffed full with Hersheys Kisses. Thats where Fewicity came from, one of my odd dreams.
I also enjoy making the bird pixies, I wanted to make a girl one this time. And I wanted her to look as if she was doing a bird dance. The feathers clutched in her hands because she thought they would help her fly.

Doll for my in-laws and a pixie bird named Squawk
I finished the little red-headed pixie for my in-laws for Christmas. Her name is Penny Pixie and she is holding her mouse Pumpernickle.
The ADO etsy team Im a member of is having a quarterly challenge the subject is birds. I finished Squawk last night, the little bug was driving me batty running through the house yelling Squawk Squawk! He speaks no english only squawks, but he is still very sweet.
